Premium car rental.

The problem

Where to look for an exclusive car?

Yet there is no such thing as having an app that will make it easy for the user to successfully find an exclusive car out of all existing rental companies. There are plenty of companies worldwide that offer cars for rent, since there are many expensive cars the fleets can vary from different car types and price ranges. But what if the user don’t know where to look? Maybe the user wants to rent a car in a country or region that he/she is visiting, as a stranger it can be a craft to find a company left alone a company that has a suitable or desired car.

In this case I wonder if I can make it easier for the user to find a car rental company that matches all the wants and needs, no matter where in the world the user is.

Solution.

Reservation.

It’s important to make sure that once the desired car has been found by the user that booking it is a piece of cake. A straight forward process is implemented so all needed information will be received and provided. This way both user and rental company know what they can expect from each other.

Filter.

Since this is an app that show the fleets from car rental companies all over the world only the cars that are within range appear on the homepage. Because it’s possible that there are a lot of companies in the area the cars are separated by type, this way the convertible cars will be shown in it’s own array and so will the SUV’s and all the other cars be. The most popular cars are shown at the top in a special row, this way the user gets an idea what most people liked in that area/region.

For users who already know what they are looking for there is a filter system so only cars that meet the requirements are shown, this makes it easier to find the desired car.

RESEARCH.

Not your ordinary
BMW or Mercedes rental,
this is about the most exclusive cars out there…

Luxury car rental services are popular among tourists, business travelers, and those looking for a special occasion or event. The demand for luxury car rental has been on the rise in recent years driven by an increase in global tourism, rising demand for high-end travel experiences, and an increase in disposable income. Many customers choose luxury car rentals as a way to enhance their travel experiences, especially for special occasions like weddings, honeymoons, and luxury vacations. Many customers also wish to do a “chauffeur-driven” booking so they don’t have to drive them self, but the majority go for a “self-driven” rental. Furthermore, the growing interest in experiential travel and unique travel experiences is also driving the demand for the luxury car rental market.

Sources: enterprise apps today, maximize market research

When browsing the internet/app store there are a couple of websites/apps that claim to have luxury or so called premium cars such as Europcar, Hertz and SIXT. They don’t offer the sort of cars that this case is about, the most exquisite car they offer might be a Porsche Panamera, BMW 5 Series or a Range Rover. This is about companies that offer high performance, exotic and luxury cars from brands such as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and as the holy grail the mighty brand of Bugatti.

Different people,
Different desires,
but same mission…

After gaining more information and insights from research I created three different personas that represent three different potential types of users who want to rent a car. Ultimately they all want the same which is rent a car but they all have different desires and motivations.

The Businessman who wants to make a good impression
The Occasional User who rents a car for a special events
The Enjoyer who wants to make the most out of enjoying life

RESult.

I tried to create a prototype for users that want to rent an exclusive car, Because the companies are not always that easy to find it became a multi-rental-company app where all companies can be connected if they want to. For users who don’t exactly know what they want it’s easy to scroll through the offered cars and for those who know what they want they can use filter options. Booking a car is a important part during the process, I tried to pay much attention to this and wanted to make sure all needed information will be filled in, at the same time I also tried to design it in a way that it won’t be time consuming.

Registration.

It’s important to help new users by implementing onboarding, this way the user will know about the most important features of the app. To make it look more appealing I tried to add some animations, as you can see in the give I went for a bounce effect. I did my best to try and make the feel as organic as possible so it’s easy to operate.

For the user who start the app for the first time there is a small onboarding. The key features are explained so the user gets a summary of what to expect from this app. It is possible to go back a slide or to skip the entire onboarding if wished.

onboarding.

Since there are multiple companies who offer their fleet there can be many cars (depending on area and availability) To prevent users from losing their selfs in the potential offer of cars all of them are separated by groups, this way SUV’s have their own array and so do convertibles and all other cars. On top of the list there is an array with the most popular cars in the area, this can be nice for users who are not sure what they exactly want and for those who do know what they want there is a filter option.

search and find.

Once the user found a car the next step is to book it, I tried to make this part as easy and short as possible. Information that is already known from the user such as name, payment methods, driver license copy etc. will be saved after registration.

The only information needed is the desired date and location. To finish it off the user has to pay and can select a payment method.

Once the booking is confirmed it will appear in the personal dashboard from where the booking information can be seen and managed.
