This is the end result of a school project, the idea was to create a prototype for a product to help people with sleep problems. As a team consisting of four people, we spend time doing research and had decided to look into people who cannot stay off their phones. We did this because we felt like just 'sleeping problems' is generic and wanted to really solve a particular problem. In fact, research shows that many people go to bed and have their phones within reach, this causes them to browse through all kinds of apps or websites in bed while the clock ticks on and on, in the end there is less sleep because a good amount of time went by.

Product
My part was visually designing the product and the documentation of the project, as individuals we all did our part in doing research. In the end we came up with the following deliverables: a physical prototype, landing page, promotional video and extensive documentation with relevant research and how the product exactly works with all it’s funcionalities. There was also a jury who would decide which group is the winner by delivering the best work, our group won!
Prototype
With the final product called 'SleepSafe', the user has to put his phone in the Safe before going to sleep, slowly the lamp will light up and once it is time to get up the user can access his phone again. A key point that emerged during feedback after intermediate presentations is that it can be a problem at the time when the user needs his phone for an emergency, or someone calls the user because of an emergency. In the app, it can be set from whom the user does allow incoming calls, if a call is made by one of these numbers then the user can still access his phone. In the app, sleep data can also be found, these are measured by the strap that comes with product and is supposed to be wrapped around the user’s matress.
