information about jordan1 please ?
The JORDAN1 was first introduced in 1985 and is without a doubt the most popular model in the range, for many it’s the best sneaker ever. Till this day there are still new variations being released, some are based on historical ones meaning that the product must be able to be updated so a printed book wont cut it. As a sneaker with so many releases and variations it deserves it’s own product where the user can see and read about the full legacy.
Just some sort of product where you can find all JORDAN 1’s ever released seems a bit dull, I also want to challenge myself by finding something that will really help the target audience. It must be an extra add on that will Will be useful for the community.

Gain information about Jordan 1 sneakers
Easy buy/sell system
Authenticity guarantee
Sneaker release updates
Because I’m only a modest sneaker enthousiast with minimum knowledge I had some questions myself, so I spoke more fanatic enthousiasts (including staff of sneaker stores) and asked theme some question. One of my questions was ‘How many different Jordan 1 sneakers are out there’ No body could really answer this and in reply to that I asked if there is such thing as an overview where you can see them all. There is no such thing so I wanted to make an encyclopedia where all official Jordan 1’s that ever released can be found including information such as release date, color, materials etc.
Since the Jordan 1 is the most beloved Jordan model of them all there is plenty of people who want a pair and plenty of people who are selling them, see it as supply and demand. And in a world that works with supply and demand there are always people who in this case try to sell fake sneakers and make money out of it. There are many websites and apps where you can buy these sneakers but it’s always a bet wether the shoes you buy are authentic or if the shoes match the ones in the advertisement. Because of this I wanted to create an marketplace with authenticity guarantee exclusively for Jordan 1 sneakers.
With the gained information and ideas I started to create a persona so I could always look back at what a potential person within the target audience is like. It helps me to create the app and pay attention to wants, need, pain and gains.
At this point I felt like I had a clear vision of my target audience and seen opportunities so I created a wireflow. This helped me with seeing which pages I need and how they are connected to one and ather.
In general Jordans are pretty colorful shoes so to make them stand out I decided to design cards for the ‘Oncyclopedia’ page. I created these cards in Ilustrator and my inspiration came from card trading games such as Pokemon, the slogan of the Pokemon card game is ‘Got to catch them all”
I did this because for the real sneaker enthousiasts Jordans are collector items and they want them all.
In therms of design I went for the main color of the shoes in de background of the card itself with a shiny effect, to make it complete the name of each model is displayed in the bottom of the card. The corners as seen in the top left and bottom right come back in the title of each screen in the app. The main colors used throughout the app are black, white and gray which make it look minimalistic but make the shoes stand out more.
Result.
THE ONE is an mobile app that caters to sneaker enthusiasts, the goal is to create a space where people are able to buy and sell only Jordan 1 sneakers, this is where the name comes from. There is a point during the buy/selling process were the sneakers will be checked by a team of experts to ensure the sneakers are authentic. On top of that there is an encyclopedia where the user can find every single official Jordan 1 sneaker that has been released and will release in the future. Also the app is meant to create an exceptional user experience that will make every enthusiast of the Jordan 1 sneaker want to download the app.
Onboarding.
It’s important to help new users by implementing onboarding, this way the user will know about the most important features of the app. To make it look more appealing I tried to add some animations, as you can see in the give I went for a bounce effect. I did my best to try and make the feel as organic as possible so it’s easy to operate.
One of the key features within the app is the marketplace, the user is able to buy and sell shoes. It comes with a filter menu so when the user is looking for particular sneakers it’s easy to find them, the following actions is to either buy them or save them as favourite with the chance to find them in an shortlist.
When interested in a pair of shoes the user is able to chat with the seller in case if there are any questions, there is also the opportunity to do an offer. The process to buy is pretty forward and comes with explanation about protection fee and authenticity check.
Buy.
The user is able to sell sneakers, to do this information about the shoes must be filled in including pictures, condition, desired price and more. As part of confirmation the shoes will be displayed at the ‘My sales’ tab in the Marketplace section.
In the ‘My sales’ tab there is also a button saying ‘Statistics’ the user can see how many shoes have been bought, sold and how much money is earned and spent.
Sell.
Onecyclopedia.
The Onecyclopedia is an important feature of the app, this is where the user can see all official Jordan 1 sneakers that have been released. In case the user have particular criteria it’s possible to add filter options.
When the user tap on any card more information will appear about the shoes including product details, retail price and the option to search these shoes on the marketplace. Since there are many Jordans that are rare and can only be bought through a raffle people are always on the lookout to get a pair.
“At least 23 different OG Air Jordan 1 models and colorways were released, but I have no idea how many variations in total...”
have a go and discover your favorite pair…
users Opinion.
With the prototype finished I tried to go back and let the participants from the interviews have a go, they were impressed with the result. In short the participants said that the app feels complete and love how you can go from the Oncyclopedia to the marketplace to search and buy shoes. Also the process of buying and selling shoes seems easy. Having a calendar with releases is always nice but having an overview of stores where you can buy or join raffles is the icing on the cake. It makes it more easy to buy or at least make a chance to buy Jordans. A point of criticism is that it looks blend, in therms of design it can be more cheerful which I can understand. I will make an iteration on this but the core itself is working fine, so come back soon…
